Arkansas Adoption and Foster Care Act

   The act will prevent adoptive or foster care children from being placed in homes with couples who live together out of wedlock.  This will apply equally to both homosexuals and heterosexuals.

   Efforts to place this act on the November, '08 ballot are underway.  Pro-family groups are hoping to gather 100,000 petition signatures by July 7th, '08.  To print the petition and rules for canvassing, please go to http://adoptionact.familycouncilactioncommittee.com/index.asp?pageID=1. Please note that the rules for circulation and signing must be carefully followed.  Please mail completed petitions to the address listed on the petition.

Clarification

   A coalition has been officially organized against the above proposal.  Unfortunately, the coalition was named Arkansas Families First.  I called the Secretary of State's office and asked regarding name infringement and was told that the AFF was "significantly different" from Families First Foundation.  Also, the name identifies only a Ballot Question Committee and not an incorporation.  Obviously, Families First Foundation will support the Arkansas Adoption and Foster Care Act.

Lottery

   Families First Foundation is mailing/delivering anti-lottery educational materials to congregations across the state.  It is probably a bit early for congregations to distribute brochures and other materials, but we want to be sure each congregation has a supply on hand when needed.  Please call our office (870-739-5288) for shipment/delivery of anti-lottery materials.
