The Case for Marriage

The Case Against Counterfeiting Marriage

Some congressional and state elected officials are saying a constitutional marriage amendment isn't needed.

Their conclusion is a packaged political statement -- "We already have one man one woman marriage laws in place, we don't need anything else." It is true, we have one man one woman laws in place. However, the issue is not whether we have existing laws, but "what kind of laws do we have?"

Both federal and state Defense of Marriage Laws (D.O.M.A.) are statutory laws. In the hierarchy of laws we have Federal Constitution Law; then, Federal Statutory Law; then, State Constitution Law; then, State Statutory Law.

The problem we are facing is that renegade judicial activists are attacking the vulnerable statutory laws! What is needed is a strengthened law and one that is less likely to be attacked by these runaway judges and courts. A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT answers the dilemma!
